SUNS AGM 2010

I would like to start by thanking every one who helped to arrange SUNS’ AGM on the 1st of October.

The event was a great success. It was so nice to see so many service users and a diversity of professionals attending. Robert Buckland MP chaired the AGM and kept things flowing nicely, and spent most of the break chatting with service users. Viv, one of the staff from the Listening Line, updated everyone on how well the Listening Line is doing.

Laura McMurtrie, Chief Executive of AWP, congratulated SUNS on a good year and gave a talk about the Government White Paper.

The highlight of the AGM was the talks given by service users about how they feel about SUNS and the Listening Line. The talks they gave were fantastic and I felt they were so brave to stand up in front of such influential people and talk. Another highlight was when two service users, Griff and Pat, played their guitar and mouth organ and performed a song about their lives on the streets.

The last part of the AGM was the giving out of awards. It gave us huge pleasure to hand out awards to all the service users to recognise all the work that they’ve put in for SUNS. It was also great to hand out awards to all of the staff who have given SUNS so much help and support over the past year, to thank them for their efforts.

Once again, it was a great success and brilliant to see so many people there.

See you at our 2011 AGM!
