Why get involved?
Mental ill health affects 1 in 4 people at some point in their lives. With such a large number of people suffering from mental ill health, it is essential that service providers listen to the views of those affected by mental health.
It isn’t just those suffering from mental ill health that can get involved with improving services. SUNS encourages involvement from health professionals, carers and 3rd party organisations.
With your involvement, together we can help ensure that services provide the all round care needed to keep our community well, using methods that you help to design.
Ways to get involved
SUNS offers an array of ways to get involved and help shape the care provided. Including weekly clubs which offers service users the chance to discuss their care whilst engaging in fun activities and regular meetings with local care providers, which service users can attend along with other SUNS representatives. You can also get involved by volunteering at the Swindon Listening Line (a Swindon based mental health evening support line), or by participating in charity fund raising events.
SUNS also employs a full time Support Development Worker who’s role it is to make it possible for local service users, carers and professionals to feedback their experiences and ideas to SUNS, and to deliver this feedback to local service providers.
